Letters from Boston 2024, #5 Boston Japan Festival

みなさん、こんにちは。ボストン記者の小野莉奈です。私は先日5年ぶりに開催された
、Boston Japan Festival に実行委員、学生ボランティアとして参加しました。2日間にわ
たって開催されたのですが連日、多くの方が訪れてくださいました。
Hello everyone. I’m Rina Ono, and I’m a reporter from Boston. I recently participated in
the Boston Japan Festival, which was held for the first time in five years, as a committee
member and student volunteer. The two-day event held many visitors each day.

私はフードブースの管理を主に行っていたのですが、終始長い列ができるほど多くの方
が並ばれていました。ラーメンやたこ焼きなど日本で親しまれている食べ物を海外の方が
楽しまれている姿がたくさん見られて嬉しかったです。また、実行委員として、現地でマ
ーケットを所有している方やボランティアの方々、訪れた方など多くの人とも関われる機
会だったので貴重な経験となりました。
I was mainly in management of the food booth, and there were so many people that
there was a long line of people waiting in line throughout the event. I was happy to see so
many people from overseas enjoying Japanese foods such as Ramen noodles and
Takoyaki. As a member of the organizing committee, I also had the opportunity to interact
with many people, including the local market owners, volunteers, and visitors, which was a
valuable experience.

他にもかるたや生け花など日本の文化を触れ合えるワークショップやステージでは和楽
器の演奏やダンスの披露、コスプレイベントなどが行われ、歓声や拍手で盛り上がってい
ました。昭和ボストンに留学中の学生も学生ボランティアとして、現地の方々と交流して
いました。
Other events included workshops to experience Japanese culture such as Karuta and
Ikebana, as well as performances of Japanese musical instruments, dance performances,
and a cosplay event on stage, all of which were filled with cheers and applause. Students
studying abroad in Showa Boston also interacted with local people as student volunteers.
改めて、日本の文化の魅力を再発見できた楽しいイベントでした。
Another time, it was an enjoyable event that allowed us to rediscover the charm of
Japanese culture.
