Letters from Boston５ ハーバード大学へのフィールドトリップ

Dear Readers,

Hi! I’m a Boston reporter, Kiwa Tomonari. I’m studying abroad in Boston.

こんにちは！ボストン記者の友成希和です。現在ボストンに留学中です。

Boston is about universities! There are a lot of universities in Boston and some of them are familiar as top universities. Today, I’ll share about an especially famous top university, Harvard.

ボストンと言えば大学！ボストンには、たくさんの大学があり、いくつかの大学は名門大学として知られています。今日は、有名大学の中でも特に有名な名門大学であるハーバード大学について紹介します。

1　John Harvard Statue / ジョン・ハーバード象

Many tourists or people from abroad take pictures with the Statue because it is said that people who touch the statue’s shoes will become happy. Many people misunderstand about the statue, but the statue’s model is not John Harvard, but his student!!

この銅像の足を触ると幸せになるといわれているため、多くの旅行客はこの銅像と一緒に写真を撮ります。多くの人はこの銅像について勘違いをしていますが、この銅像のモデルはジョン・ハーバードではなく、彼の生徒です。

2　Harvard Museum of Natural History / ハーバード大学自然史博物館

In this museum, you can see flowers made of glass, stuffed animals and fishes. We went there in a class. There are a lot of things that I’ve never seen and they are very interesting.

この博物館の中では、ガラスでできた花の模型や動物や魚のはく製を見ることができます。私たちは、授業内でこの場所を見学しました。これまで見たことが無いものも多く、とても面白かったです。

3　Virtual world / バーチャルワールド

There is a teacher who worked at Showa Boston and works at Harvard now. We took a class about virtual reality, and I was really interested in it!! There are a lot of VRs and he showed 12K movie!! We experienced fusion of real and unreal.

昭和ボストンの元教授で、現在はハーバードの教授をしている方がいらっしゃいます。私たちは、ハーバードでバーチャルの授業を受け、その授業は本当に面白かったです！！たくさんのＶＲがあったり、12Ｋの動画を見せていただいたりしました！！現実と非現実の融合を経験しました。
