プログラムの2日目です。今日の２限は、ESGに関する講義を受けました。

CSRとESGの取り組みの動向とビジネスにおける文化理解について学びました。講義も全て英語で行われる上に内容が難しいので理解するのが大変ですが、とても勉強になります。

突然ですが皆さんに質問です！

ESGとは何かご存知ですか？聞いたことはあるけれど、よく知らないという方も多いのではないでしょうか？

ESGとはEnvironment（環境）、Social（社会）、Governance（統治）の頭文字で、企業が長期的に成長するために欠かせない観点です。つまり企業がESGに配慮した経営を行うことでSDGsの達成につながります。

そして4限目は日本とデンマークの文化の違いについて学ぶ授業でした。特に印象的だったのは、顧客との電話の際に社員を姓で呼ぶという日本の文化に対するデンマークの学生の反応です。デンマークにはそのようなビジネスマナーがないようで、理解できない様子でした。

今日は、普段考えなかった日本の文化を考えるよい機会になりました。

Hello readers! I’m Sayaka Nakamura from the Department of Business Design. Today is Day 2 of the Joint Summer Program with Business Academy Aarhus, Denmark.

We had lectures about Trends in CSR and ESG initiatives and Cultural Understanding in Business. It may not be easy to understand all the lectures in English, but it’s a great opportunity for us to study ESG.

At this point, I have a question for you!

Do you know what ESG is? Many may have heard this word, but may not know much about it. ESG stands for Environment, Social, and Governance, and is a perspective that is essential for a company’s long-term growth.  In other words, when a company successfully manages with ESG, it will help achieve the SDGs.

In the afternoon, we learned cultural differences between Japan and Denmark. Particularly impressive was the Danish students’ reaction to Japanese culture. The story was about how to answer phone calls from customers outside the company. In Japan, we usually do not add an honorific title, such as President or Mr./Ms. of a colleague when a customer asks him/her on the phone. 

Danes, however, did not seem to know such business manners.

Today was a good opportunity for us to discover Japanese culture, which we do not think about everyday.
