【今井ゼミ】Visiting University of Colorado Boulder

皆さんこんにちは！今井ゼミ4年の古家里乃と土屋綺華です。2024年9月にコロラド大学ボルダー校を訪問してきたので、今回はその前半の報告をしたいと思います！！

Hello everyone!! This is Rino Furuya and Ayaka Tsuchiya, senior year students from the Imai seminar.  We visited the University of Colorado Boulder in September 2024, so we would like to give you a first half report about it.

Day 1

私たちは成田空港から飛行機に乗り、デンバー空港に9月9日に到着しました。ホテルまでは友達が車で送ってくれました。ホテルで荷解きをした後、近くに中華料理のお店があったのでそこで夕食を済ませ、パールストリートモールというショッピングモールのようなものがあり、そこでビジネスコンテストのチームメイトたちと再会し、BEN&JERRY’Sのアイスクリームを食べてきました！

We flew from Narita airport and arrived at Denver airport on the 9th. Our friend picked us up from there to our hotel. After we unpacked our suitcase, we had dinner at a chinese restaurant near the hotel, and went to Pearl Street Mall. We reunited with our teammates from the Joint Program with University of Colorado Boulder students, and had BEN&JERRY’S. 

Day 2

二日目は、コロラド大学ボルダーキャンパスの学食でお昼を食べた後、チームメイトのクラスを見学に行き、シャトークアパークという公園を散歩しました。この公園はとても広く、山に向かって登れるのですが、坂道がつらすぎて途中で断念しました…。夜はターゲットで買い物をした後にローカルなThe Sinkというピザ屋さんに連れていってもらいました。コロラド大学を卒業した生徒たちが天井に名前を書くという伝統があるそうで、天井にはびっしりと名前が書かれていました。

On the second day, we had lunch at the cafeteria in University of Colorado Boulder campus.After that, we walked around Chautauqua Park. It was a large park, and you can hike there but we gave up halfway since we were too tired to hike up a slope. At night, we went to Target to shop, and then our friends took us to the local pizza restaurant called The Sink. We heard that there was a tradition that graduates from University of Colorado visit there and write their names on the ceiling. It was covered with names.

Day 3

三日目はチャンピオンセンターというアメフトやオリンピック競技など、さまざまなスポーツのトレーニングができる場所を訪れ、アメフトチームのコーチの方々がツアーをしてくださいました。試合が行われるスタジアムのVIPにも案内していただき、日本の大学との差に開いた口が塞がりませんでした。そのあとはCUの生徒にキャンパスツアーをしてもらい、教室や図書館、ジムなどを歩いて回り、お昼には友達がパールストリートに連れて行ってくれて、そこで昼食をとってショッピングをしました。夕方には学校でビジネスコンテストのプログラムについて一年生にむけてプレゼンテーションをしました。私たちの話にとても良いリアクションをしてくれたので安心しました。

On the third day, we visited the Champion Center, a facility where you can train for various sports such as American football and Olympic sports. The American football team coaches gave us a tour. They took us to the VIP area of the stadium where the matches were held, and our jaws dropped at the difference between it and Japanese universities. After that, a CU student gave us a tour of the campus. We walked around classrooms, libraries, and gyms, and our friend took us to Pearl Street, where we had lunch and went shopping. In the evening, we gave a presentation to freshman students at the school about the SWU and CU program. We were relieved that they responded very positively to our talk.
